10 skeletons unearthed at stadium site
AN archaeological dig at the site of a new football stadium has uncovered 10 skeletons dating back to Roman times.
The bones were found during excavation work to create a new sporting facility for Forest Green Rovers and an eco park.
Roman coins, pottery and jewellery were also found on the piece of land next to Junction 13 of the M5 in Gloucestershire.
Cotswold Archaeology’s Sharon Clough said that so far, it had been an “exciting site”.
She added: “We’ve excavated 10 burials and we think these date to the Roman period or postRoman period.”
