“Poor sleep can cause an increase in the stress hormone cortisol, which is known to reduce sexual desire,” says Mark Kirsten, sleep therapist at Innermost (liveinnerm­ost.com). “Less sleep also lowers testostero­ne levels, which reduces the desire for sex.”

Meanwhile, our diets also have an impact. “Eat ginger – it increases blood flow,” says Eleanor Thrupp, nutritiona­l therapist for Innermost. “And dark chocolate contains phenylethy­lamine – known as the love chemical.”
