No exKusen that mistake, Muller

-

BAYERN MUNICH’S

Thomas Muller scored a costly own goal as the Bundesliga leaders were frustrated by BAYER LEVERKUSEN.

Niklas Sule pounced on a loose ball to score after two botched clearances following a corner from Joshua Kimmich.

But third-placed Leverkusen levelled in the 36th minute with a fortuitous goal, Muller (below) flummoxing his own goalkeeper Sven Ulreich and turning a freekick from Kerem Demirbay into his own net.

The 1-1 draw was the first time Bayern had shared the spoils in the league since the opening day of the season. Robert Lewandowski had a rare off day, but Bayern are hopeful of tying the prolific Polish striker down to a new deal.

Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn said: “We want to have talks with our deserving players in the spring, including Robert, of course.”

England striker Tammy Abraham scored the only goal as ROMA squeezed past ATALANTA 1-0.

Jose Mourinho’s men lost Henrikh Mkhitaryan to a late red card but still held out. Elsewhere in Serie A, UDINESE saw off SAMPDORIA 2-1.

In La Liga, OSASUNA beat VILLARREAL

1-0 while ESPANYOL were 2-0 victors over GETAFE.
