Gers raise the Roofe

- Scottish Round-Up

KEMAR ROOFE rescued Rangers late on as they beat Aberdeen to keep the pressure on Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers, celebrating 150 years since their foundation, laboured for large periods against the struggling visitors.

But sub Roofe (above) tapped home from close range from a James Tavernier header in the 82nd minute to settle the contest.

Rangers, now unbeaten in nine since losing to

Celtic, stay behind their city rivals on goal difference ahead of the leaders’ visit to Livingston today. And

Ibrox boss Gio van Bronckhorst hailed his substitutes for changing the game.

“I think we needed the changes and I think they impacted really well,” he said. “They brought energy and character.”

Celtic face another difficult task against a Livingston side who have kept two clean sheets against the leaders this season and beat Ange Postecoglou’s side back in September.

“It’s under-playing them a little bit to say they will just frustrate us,” said the Celtic boss.

“If you look at their recent form, they have got some attacking threats.”
