Jail targeted with record drone drops
DRONES smuggled drugs and mobile phones into a jail a record 18 times in just over a month.
An investigation has exposed how gangsters are targeting HMP Liverpool with the devices.
It’s feared drug lords at the Category B prison are coordinating the operation via illegal mobile phones.
Mick Pimblett, of the Prison Officers Association, said: “Liverpool is the most extreme example of the drone threat.
“It is located within the city and holds many local criminals – a lot linked to the area’s drugs’ trade.”
A Prison Service spokesman said: “We are spending million to bolster security. HMP Liverpool is working with police to deter drones and stop contraband entering the prison.”
