Stout pricing for Guinness at race event
CHELTENHAM Festival racegoers may choke at the price of Guinness next week – £6.60 a pint.
A poll found the course was second only to the £6.80 charged at Fontwell Park, West Sussex, while the cheapest was £4 at Newton Abbot in Devon.
The next cheapest racecourses for the stout were Scotland’s Ayr at £4.30 and Musselburgh, £4.40, then Fakenham, Norfolk, £4.50, and Chester, £4.80.
Grandnational.org.uk also revealed the cheapest bubbly was £23 a bottle at Taunton, compared to £66 at Cheltenham.
A spokesman said drink prices at the festival, which starts on Tuesday, “may be the biggest hurdles”.
