SURPRISE-PACKAGE Matthew Selt is one win away from the biggest payday of his 20-year career.

Selt held his nerve to beat Chinese superstar Ding Junhui 6-5 in a thrilling semi-final at the Turkish Masters yesterday.

The Romford potter, who is one step away from pocketing the £100,000 first prize, said: “I feel really good, it’s a pleasure to beat someone of Ding’s class.”

Selt (above) will now face Judd Trump after he overcame Shaun Murphy 6-2.

It is only the world No.25’s second ranking final of his career. Selt’s last, and only, ranking final success was at the Indian Open three years ago.

PRIMOZ ROGLIC increased his overall lead on Paris-Nice after sprinting to victory at the mountain summit of Col de Turini.

Sealing his first win of the season, the Jumbo-Visma rider took his overall race lead over England’s Simon Yates to 47 seconds.

Daniel Felipe Martinez of Ineos Grenadiers was second with Team BikeExchange-Jayco ace Yates third. “I had the legs today so it was a great day,” said Roglic.
