Mata’s set to stay on

- BY HARRY PRATT

JUAN MATA looks ready to extend his stay at Manchester United yet again – but this time with a view to becoming a coach.

The Spanish midfielder, 33, is out of contract in June and the Reds are keen to retain his services.

Mata is receptive to the idea of staying put at Old Trafford as he begins to take some of his coaching badges and plot a future beyond the pitch.

As well as giving him an opportunity to coach at youth level, the United hierarchy are interested in employing the Spain star in an ambassadorial role.

The ex-Valencia and Chelsea star, who agreed a new one-year deal last summer, has also been linked with a move to Barcelona – and a return to La Liga is still possible.
