■■Liverpool have won eight consecutiv­e Premier League games for the first time since a run of 18 successive victories, ending in February 2020, on their way to winning the title in 2019-20.

Brighton have lost five consecutiv­e league matches for the first time since April 2007 in League One.

■■Liverpool’s second goal saw them become just the second side to reach 2,000 Premier League goals after Manchester United (2,173 before their game against Tottenham).
