That’s the trouble with Harry

WILSON LEVELS BUT THEN MISSES SITTER

- By ROSS HEPPENSTALL at Oakwell

HARRY WILSON will have sweet dreams about his stunning equaliser which secured Fulham a point.

But he will also have nightmares about the horrendous late miss that denied the Cottagers all three.

The Wales winger, signed from Liverpool for £12million last summer, struck a delightful effort for the runaway Championship leaders in the 86th minute.

A controversial penalty by Carlton Morris (right) had put Barnsley ahead and the struggling hosts defied their lowly status with a performance full of heart and desire.

Yet Wilson, 24, curled home a stunning left-foot shot into the top corner and should have claimed a winner – only to somehow head Fabio Carvalho’s cross wide when unmarked from inside the six-yard box.

It was a shocking miss but Fulham boss Marco Silva insisted: “This is what can happen in football.

“Harry did brilliantly for his goal and the main thing for his miss was that he was there in the right spot to score.

“If in three days’ time, he has another chance from the same spot, then he will score, definitely.”

For the Tykes, it was the second home game inside five days where they were denied victory late on.

Stoke grabbed an equaliser in the fifth minute of added time last time out and Wilson’s stunner broke Yorkshire hearts again. Goalscorer Morris spoke afterwards of a “sinking feeling.”

But Barnsley boss Poya Asbaghi said: “If you want to look at it positively, we could have lost it in the end.

“But we got a draw and the desire of the players is always there. One or two months ago, people were saying we were already in League One, but we’ve always had that fighting spirit, even when we have lost.”

With half-time approaching, Morris dispossessed Tosin Adarabioyo before hitting the deck under a challenge from the Fulham defender.

Asbaghi said he was “hoping for a red card for the Fulham player” but opposite number Silva pointed an accusing finger at referee Tim Robinson.

Silva added: “It was a clear mistake from the referee and his bad decision had a big impact on the game.

“But even though we didn’t play to our best level, we fought until the end.”
