ROO ARE KIDDING
Wayne ref rage at penalty snub
WAYNE ROONEY rapped ref Andy Madley after Derby’s relegation woes deepened.
Goals at the end of each half from Bournemouth top-scorer Dominic Solanke and substitute Jamal Lowe plunged Rooney’s men closer to the drop to League One.
Rooney was convinced the Rams should have had a game-changing early penalty when Cherries defender Leif Davis appeared to stamp on Ravel Morrison’s foot.
England legend Rooney also felt Premier League official Madley should have stopped the game in the build-up to Lowe’s crucial second goal.
Rooney said: “I don’t believe we deserved to lose the game.
“It’s a clear penalty. I’m sure if you’ll ask Scott Parker he’ll say it’s a penalty. Everyone in the stadium knew it was a penalty except for the four people that mattered.
“I went on about referees last week and I don’t want to keep doing that because it sounds like I’m making excuses.
“There were three moments in their goal – it was a clear foul on Lee Buchanan. We’re monitoring a head injury and the ref just stood over him.
“We have a duty of care to the players. If a player is down with a head injury, especially for the second time, then I think the rules are you stop the game.”
Cherries boss Parker was unhappy with the home fans for booing his side off after Tuesday’s dour 1-1 draw with bottom club Peterborough.
There was a mood of frustration in the air for much of the first-half as Parker’s team struggled to break down Derby.
That changed in the fifth minute of stoppagetime when Solanke fired the hosts in front after some brilliant wing play from Jaidon Anthony. Anthony burst into the penalty area before beating three Derby defenders – including two nutmegs – and teed up Solanke to blast home his 22nd goal from close in.
Derby had chances to level in the second-half with home goalkeeper Mark Travers making smart saves to deny Buchanan and Morrison.
But super-sub Lowe put the game out of the Rams’ reach in the last minute.
Solanke’s powerful shot was pushed away by Ryan Allsop only for Lowe to smash in the rebound.
Parker said: “We needed a reaction after Peterborough and throughout the game I thought the intensity we played at was exceptional.”
