Springing into warmest week

SWIMMER Becky Farran jumps for joy as Britain basked in the hottest day of the year so far yesterday.

The 28-year-old was among sunbathers on Blackpool beach but shirts were removed across the UK – and temperatures topped 20C in Kinlochewe in Scotland’s Highlands.

The hot spell is forecast to last all week, peaking at 19C in London and Cardiff on Thursday.

Met Office meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth said: “We’ve got high pressure bringing wall-to-wall sun.”
