UK cashes in on Caribbean after hol ban

HOLIDAYMAK­ERS are flocking back to the Caribbean, foreign currency sales figures have revealed.

They are cashing in after the scrapping of Covid travel restrictio­ns, with demand for some Caribbean currencies surging past pre-pandemic levels.

Sales for the Barbados dollar are up 55% on 2020.

Demand for the East Caribbean dollar is up 52% and sales of the Jamaican dollar are up by 44%.

Mexican peso sales have also jumped by 35%.

Nick Boden, of Post Office Travel Money, said there has been “an extraordin­ary rise in sales in recent weeks and there’s no sign of a slowdown”.
