Cost squeeze pushes baby milk price up
BABY milk formula prices are rising as manufacturers pass on higher costs.
Trade magazine The Grocer said an 800g tub of Aptamil Organic 1 First Infant Milk had risen from £12 to £13.50 at Sainsbury’s this month.
Other hikes include Cow & Gate 1-2 Years Growing Up Milk 200ml, up from 70p to 75p at Tesco.
Aptamil maker Danone said while it tried to “absorb costs” it faced hikes due to “costs in producing, storing and transporting products”.
Nestle, which owns SMA and Little Steps, also said it was “experiencing pressure” on prices but was “doing everything we can” to manage costs.
