Jail for evil ex who tried to burn girlfriend to death
A MAN who doused his ex-girlfriend in petrol then set her on fire has been jailed for nearly 18 years.
Evil Leigh Pateman left Ellen Marshall to burn to death.
Fire crews found her and she survived, but her injuries are so severe she is still in hospital 11 months after the horror ordeal.
Ellen, 42, who suffered 80 to
90 per cent burns to the top half of her body and lost several fingers, will always need round-the-clock care, Lincoln Crown Court heard.
Pateman, 43, fled after torching her at his home in Skegness, in April 2020, but was found at his mum’s house covered in soot.
He admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and was jailed for 17 years and 10 months, plus four years to be served on
license after he is released.
