Stamp prices to rise in April

-

The price of a first-class stamp is due to rise by 10p to 95p from April 4.

Second-class stamps will also increase in price to 68p – up 2p on the previous cost.

The price hikes come as Royal Mail seeks to cover higher delivery costs while the number of letters being sent falls. ■■Households should expect to see their income fall by around £1,000 this year.

Experts have issued the stark warning after taking the effect of inflation into account.

Families already expect bills to go up next month when the energy price cap jumps and National Insurance contributions rise.
