AYLING’S KEEPING IT WHEEL

- BY ROSS HEPPENSTALL

LUKE AYLING admits he will have to brush up on his goal celebrations after failing to pull off a “cartwheel” following his winner in Leeds’ dramatic 3-2 comeback victory at Wolves.

The defender fired home from close range as Jesse Marsch’s side rose from the dead to clinch a vital win after trailing 2-0 at the break.

Jack Harrison and Rodrigo scored before Ayling took centre stage with an added-time winner amid raucous scenes among players, staff and fans.

A second successive Premier League victory under American boss Marsch lifted Leeds seven points clear of third-bottom Watford and gave their survival hopes a massive boost.

It was all thanks to Ayling’s late heroics, even though his attempts at a Robbie Keane-style cartwheel goal celebration did not quite go to plan.

Right-back Ayling said: “I tried to do the Robbie Keane celebration but I couldn’t land the cartwheel, which was a bit disappointing… I’ll have to work on that!

“But it’s a massive three points and the boys are buzzing. It’s huge for us to put a bit of daylight between ourselves and the bottom three.

“The teams down there have got games in hand, though, so we will just have to sit back and see what happens with that.

“We need to keep trying to build on these results and how we’ve been playing, because we’ve been playing well since the new gaffer came in.”
