PL test ‘needs change’
HUMAN rights compliance should be included in the Premier League’s current fit and proper persons test, according to Amnesty International.
Peter Frankental, Amnesty’s economic relations manager, believes that the Chelsea crisis and the ongoing concerns over Newcastle United’s Saudi Arabian owners should provide a wake-up call.
He said: “What we’re seeing now is that the chickens are coming home to roost.
“We proposed to the PL back in July 2020 that they should adopt a human rights compliance within that test.”
