Aiden: I’ll stay a Cat

- BY CLIVE HETHERINGTON

AIDEN McGEADY is battling to be part of Sunderland’s push for a League One play-off place.

The former Republic of Ireland winger has yet to feature under Black Cats boss Alex Neil due to a niggling knee problem, which has kept him on the sidelines since November.

But McGeady, who moved to the Stadium of Light from Everton in 2017, hopes to be back before the end of what is expected to be his final season on Wearside.

The former Celtic star, 35, is out of contract this summer.

And he said: “I’ll settle in Scotland when I finish playing – but I don’t want to hang my boots up just yet.’’
