Maguire is today’s man ... Fikayo is Tomori’s
“IN what stratosphere has Harry Maguire been better than Fikayo Tomori? None.”
And talkSPORT pundit Darren Bent was, in a fashion, probably echoing the sentiments of quite a few England fans.
Two-cap centre-back Tomori (below) has featured in 22 of Milan’s 29 league games this season as they hunt the Serie A crown. But here’s the ‘stratosphere’ in which Maguire has been better than the 24-year-old – a World Cup, and a European Championship that was less than a year ago.
Maguire’s form has not been good in a mediocre Manchester United season – but he has never let
Gareth Southgate down, and he is highly valued by the England manager for his leadership skills.
Hopefully, Tomori’s England time will come again – but Maguire is one of the core of go-to Southgate players.
ARSENE WENGER still reckons, after four decades in management came to an end, he is like “a guy who’s off drugs”.
And the 72-year-old Frenchman (above) said: “I spent 40 seasons in the dugout and if I listen to my guts, I would still do it.”
There would probably be some clubs out there who would gladly give him the chance.
And at least that would stop him banging on about a biennial World Cup… which is the brainchild of someone who is still on drugs.
