DJ is turning the tables on Kremlin
A NERD army has opened a new front against Putin – by taking down Russian websites.
Electronic music DJ Oleksandr Menzheres is one of dozens of hackers hitting the Government, propaganda channels and financial institutions.
The 42-year-old Kyiv native, who also runs a software development company, says: “All Ukrainians need to do what they can in order to withstand the Russian aggression.
“Army forces fight in the field. The IT community should fight in the cybersecurity area.” In late
February Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, announced on Twitter that he was “creating an IT army”.
It now has more than 310,000 members from Ukraine and around the world.
And Oleksandr says many similar groups of self-organised hackers have popped up using what he calls “death by a thousand needles” tactics to wreak havoc on Putin’s pals.
He added: “That’s just one more way the Russian economy can be affected besides direct sanctions.”
