French poll bid is a real non-starter

-

The election for a new French President takes place in two weeks.

The top two candidates, likely to include Liberal incumbent Emmanuel Macron, go into the second round to compete against each other, a bit like on Strictly Come Dancing.

The old Conservative party is on around 12% in the polls. This should be a good chance for a left wing candidate to at least get into second place.

That’s why the left has decided to stand SIX rival candidates. So they’ll all lose dismally, but the one who comes 11th will boast they beat the dingbat who came 12th, and that’s the most important thing.
