Goats, cakes and rap lessons
PRISONERS have had a multitude of treats – from karaoke to baking contests – in a bid to cut re-offending rates.
Four years ago it emerged lags were allowed to stroke goats in a pet therapy scheme at HMP Swaleside, Kent.
The £350million Berwyn jail, in Wrexham, North Wales, was dubbed HMP Travelodge thanks to its hotel-style rooms with plenty of comforts. And cons elsewhere have even been handed virtual reality headsets, which they slip on to enjoy a taste of freedom in a computergenerated world. Some jails have held karaoke contests and staged their own versions of the Great British Bake Off.
