Dunny’s Hairdryer

-

IT is harmless, strictly Americanised stuff, but this Premier League Hall of Fame stuff is just another insult to pre-1992 footballers.

Once and for all, remember the game at the top level – at any level – was exactly the same before Sky Sports got involved and will always be the same.

The latest inductees, Patrick Vieira (above) and Wayne Rooney, are worthy of being honoured for their outstanding careers.

And whoever has gone before them and whoever is next.

Again, it is harmless, a bit of fun that at least fills hours and hours of radio time.

Who would you put in the Hall of Fame? Etc, etc, etc.

But it is just a shame that every time the Premier League preens itself, a little bit of the game’s glorious long history is chipped away.

THE one thing that will linger amid the

shocking fallout from Italy’s

is the loss to North Macedonia

there to be thought they were

2020 Final. beaten in the Euro

is England The bottom line

underperformed.

THE FA’s provision of 100 buses to ferry fans from the Etihad and Anfield to the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley is a pretty pathetic compromise.

But, then, there shouldn’t have been any need for compromise.

However, railing against the constant inconveniences for match-going fans is spitting into the wind.

The FA will be paying off its Wembley debt for a long time to come and the Premier League has long since sold itself lock, stock and barrel to television.

And TV does not care what it will cost – time-wise and cashwise – YOU to get there.
