TRACEY Connelly’s release was slammed by the adoptive mum of brave abuse survivor Tony Hudgell.

Paula Hudgell called the move “shocking and sickening”.

Child cruelty campaigner Paula, 53, fostered and then adopted Tony after he suffered multiple limb fractures and other physical trauma as a baby.

She said: “Connelly should never be freed. This case horrified and outraged the nation and no one will ever forget how that poor boy was tortured by his mother, her paedophile boyfriend and his brother.”

Paula has successfully fought for longer jail terms for those convicted of causing or allowing death of, or serious physical harm to, a child. And BOND Paula dotes on

her adopted son Tony she is in talks over the creation of a child abusers’ register like the database used to track sex offenders.

Little Tony’s birth parents Tony Smith and Jody Simpson were jailed for 10 years in 2018 but are expected to be released on parole this August.

They were found guilty of causing or allowing serious harm and child cruelty. Tony suffered devastating injuries at just six weeks old.

He developed multiple organ failure and sepsis and later had both legs amputated at the knee.

Now seven, he stunned the nation with charity walks and was honoured with a Mirror Pride of Britain Award.

Mum-of-eight Paula, from West Malling, Kent, added: “Vile creatures like Connelly and those who left my son at death’s door should never be released, let alone allowed near any children ever again.”
