China Covid tots ‘taken from mums’

-

BABIES and young children are being separated from parents after testing positive for Covid in China.

Pictures of wailing babies, three to a cot, have been shown on Chinese social media WeChat.

Some children as young as three months who are still being breastfed have been taken from their mums, according to posts.

Esther Zhao took her two-year-old daughter to a Shanghai hospital with a fever on March 26. Since then she has had only one brief message that her daughter was fine.

She said: “There have been no photos at all... I’m so anxious, I have no idea what situation my daughter is in.”
