Mystery blast kills Frank, 91

A BLAST that killed a 91-year-old man was not caused by gas, officials confirmed yesterday.

The mystery explosion wrecked Frank Burton’s house in Wythenshawe, Manchester, on Thursday.

Cadent Gas said: “Mains and service pipes are sound and did not contribute to the incident”.

Police said there was no evidence of criminality.

Det Insp Matt Dixon said: “It is believed this was a self-contained incident and there is no threat to surrounding properties.”
