Lloyds to close 60 branches

Lloyds Banking Group has said it will close 60 sites across the UK.

The company announced 24 Lloyds Bank branches, 19 Bank of Scotland branches and 17 Halifax branches would shut as a result of customers moving towards online and mobile banking.

Lloyds said it would try to find new roles for the 124 staff affected by the closures. ■■The number of people with disabilities who struggle to pay their energy bills could more than double this year, charities have warned.

Currently, about 900,000 are though to be in fuel poverty.

But if the typical domestic energy bill rises to £3,000 in October, as feared, Scope and National Energy Action said that number could rise as high as 2.1 million.
