Chiefs pull the plug on Bath time

-

EXETER scored 35 unanswered points as they blew away Bath to stay in the top four.

Bath had stunned their hosts as they raced into a 22-7 lead – only for Exeter to seize control after the break and cruise home.

Chiefs head coach Ali Hepher said: “To come through was pleasing. What we’ve got to make sure is we don’t put ourselves in that position.

“We have to work hard over these next few weeks.”

Bath wing Joe Cokanasiga and Exeter’s Jacques Vermeulen traded early scores.

But Josh Bayliss and a second from Cokanasiga pushed Bath into a 15-point advantage.

Then quick tries from Dave Ewers and Patrick Schickerling turned the tide and meant there was only one point in it at the interval.

Billy Keast, Stuart Hogg and Santiago Grondona then all scored as Exeter finished strongly.

Bath coach Neal Hatley said: “We were well in the game. We’ve just got to do better in those moments.”
