Battle for Geordie boy Elliot
NEWCASTLE starlet Elliot Anderson has attracted the interest of several Championship clubs with his performances on loan at Bristol Rovers.
The 19-year-old is rated one of the Toon’s hottest prospects in years and if he does move in the summer, it will only be on a temporary basis.
But that will not prevent him being hot property in the transfer market with QPR, Nottingham Forest and Preston all keeping a close eye on his situation.
Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe is expected to splash the cash postseason but with Anderson not needing to be named in the club’s 25-man Premier League squad due to his age, he may decide to keep the youngster.
His Bristol Rovers loan boss Joey Barton believes Anderson can prosper at his hometown club.
“Elliot has been magnificent for us,” said Barton. “Every fan wants to see a local lad in the side and Phil Foden has proved at Manchester City what’s possible if you’re good enough.”
