RATHER HUD TO STOMACH
CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI has played three senior matches for England – but he has also turned down call-ups for the Under-21 side and from Gareth Southgate for games against Albania and San Marino.
Under FIFA eligibility rules, Hudson-Odoi can switch allegiance to Ghana and would be able to play in the World Cup later this year.
The Chelsea man (above) is said to be considering that option, having had talks with Ghana’s technical advisor, Chris Hughton, and been to the country to meet, among others, the nation’s president Nana Akufo-Addo.
Given the players at Southgate’s disposal, the Ghanaian option seems good for Hudson-Odoi.
But if you were the Ghana player who had battled through qualifying and then had to make way for someone who picks and chooses his duties in international football, you might be a bit cheesed off.
