Tory lobbied for Russian who loaned him £150k
DISGRACED Tory MP David Warburton lobbied for a Russian-born businessman who loaned him £150,000, it has emerged.
The Somerset MP was suspended by his party last week over sexual misconduct and cocaine claims.
New documents show he wrote a glowing character reference for Roman Joukovski to the Financial Conduct Authority.
The letter, written on headed Houses of Parliament paper, came after the regulator had ruled Mr Joukovski was not a “fit and proper person”.
Mr Warburton did not declare he received a 2017 loan from Mr Joukovski, raising fresh concerns over lobbying transparency.
Mr Joukovski, who the MP said he knew “socially and through his business activities”, has links to Kazakhstan’s brutal ruling Nazarbayev family.
It comes after pictures last week showed Mr Warburton alongside what appeared to be cocaine.
Three women have accused him of sexual misconduct, one claiming he got into bed naked and “groped” her after snorting “line after line” of the drug.
