TIME TO STEP UP AND HELP US, ANDREW

Epstein accuser calls on prince to stand as witness

EXCLUSIVE

PRINCE Andrew was yesterday urged to make good on his vow to support sex trafficking victims by standing as a witness in a case against Jeffrey Epstein’s estate.

Florida-based lawyer Spencer Kuvin represents Caroline Kaufman, who named Andrew in court documents filed against Epstein two years ago.

Ms Kaufman claims Epstein raped her at his mansion in New York.

The incident is alleged to have happened while Andrew was staying at the house in December 2010.

During that visit, the prince was famously pictured with convicted paedophile Epstein in Central Park.

Mr Kuvin told the Sunday Mirror: “At the time the incident occurred, our client was attending an event that was at the Epstein mansion in New York.

EYEWITNESS

“At that event was Prince Andrew. She has identified him as being there.

“He is potentially an eyewitness who can identify the fact she was in the home along with others.”

It comes weeks after Andrew made an undisclosed financial settlement – believed to be around £7million – to his own accuser, Virginia Giuffre.

The payment formally ended a civil case brought against him in the US.

At the time, he released a statement pledging “to demonstrate regret for his association with Epstein by supporting the fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims”.

Mr Kuvin said: “To get the prince to give a deposition would take a lot of legal back and forth.

“It would mean using the channel that Virginia Giuffre and her team employed and, of course, engaging with Andrew’s legal counsel.

“As well as the legal means, we would appeal to Andrew to reflect on the statement he made. He is on record saying he wants to fight the evils of sex trafficking and to support its victims.

“We would expect him to be true to his word and help Caroline… a victim of Andrew’s one-time friends, Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.”

INTERVIEW

Ms Kaufman, who was 17 at the time of the alleged offence, says she was invited to Epstein’s home by an associate for a “modelling interview”.

She claims she was escorted to a massage room by an “older woman” she believes to be the now-jailed Maxwell, where she was raped by Epstein.

“Kaufman was screaming for help, but no one came to her rescue,” the federal lawsuit, first filed in New York in 2020, alleges. In the documents, Ms Kaufman said Prince Andrew was at the house but did not claim he took part in the incident.

Mr Kuvin said: “She was met by Ghislaine Maxwell who said she would take her to her boss and she gave Caroline a bikini to put on. She was then escorted into a massage room where Epstein was naked on a massage table.

“Epstein got off the table threw her against the table and began to rape her.

“Maxwell told her Epstein was a powerful man and if she said anything, he would kill her and her family.”

A spokesman for Andrew declined to comment.
