Motorists hit by insurance price hikes
DRIVERS reeling from record fuel prices now face having to pay an extra £68 a year for car insurance.
The average premium is now £688 compared to £620 a year ago, according to research by price comparison website, comparethemarket.com.
The Association of British Insurers says the higher premiums are a result of cost pressures.
Since the pandemic travel curbs eased, there has been a growing accident rate and the cost of repairs have increased.
Comparethemarket. com’s Alex Hasty said: “This is concerning, as lots of motorists are already struggling.”
