Nan inspired me to be MP

-

Tories say the National Insurance hike is to pump £39billion into health and social care.

But the bulk of that will simply plug holes in the NHS budget caused by 12 years of Tory cuts.

This Government has decimated care in the community, including making home carers redundant. Crucial services have had to close down due to lack of funding.

If we employed skilled home care workers, like we did under a Labour Government, we could prevent the crisis in the NHS where people have to use acute care because they can’t access care in their community.

This costs so much less in the longterm.

The Government has devastated frontline public services. This is one of the main reasons I became an MP.

When my nanna was dying of cancer, she said: “If I was a dog, you would put me down.” No one should be made to feel like that in this

country.
