EASTER egg bargain hunters will shell out less at

Asda, a choc poll reveals.

It compared branded eggs at eight leading retailers and searched for the best deals.

Asda’s prices for four of the eggs were either cheaper or the same as their competitors.

Lidl and Morrisons came next for value in the survey, which was carried out by consumer champion Which?

It found Britain’s priciest Easter treat at Sainsbury’s where the Ferrero Rocher egg cost £13.

Asda and Tesco were charging £3 less for the same egg.

A giant Cadbury Crunchie egg from Asda is one of Easter’s best buys. At 515g, it’s nearly twice as big as the 275g Ferrero Rocher egg and, at £8.43, more than £4.50 cheaper.

But the Cadbury Crunchie treat was £12 from Tesco and Ocado.

Morrisons had the best value Dairy Milk and Cadbury Mini Eggs treats at £8 each – £2 cheaper than Tesco. And Sainsbury’s had the cheapest small egg – a 31g Cadbury Dairy Milk with Oreo for 40p. It cost 60p at Morrisons and Waitrose.

Which? money editor Reena Sewraz said: “Our analysis shows how important it is to shop around.

She added: “Check supermarket own brands, which might be just as tasty for a fraction of the price.”

The UK spent £319million on eggs last Easter, down from £347m in 2019, according to experts Kantar.
