Buttler’s serving a run feast

- RICHARD EDWARDS

JOS BUTTLER has bounced back from his Ashes disappointment in the Indian Premier League – and again proved himself as one of the world’s most dangerous batsmen in white-ball cricket.

The England wicketkeeper hit a mere 107 runs, at a lowly average of just 15, as Joe Root’s side were stuffed 4-0 by Australia in Test cricket this winter.

But going into today’s IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants, the Rajasthan Royals’ opener has already scored 205 runs in just three innings for the table toppers.

And that feast of runs has been served up by Buttler off just 143 balls.

His hundred against the Mumbai Indians in Rajasthan’s second game was scored at a blistering strike rate of 147.

Buttler said: “It was good for me to spend time in the middle against Mumbai, and put in a good performance early in the season.

“I hope that can give me the confidence to take into the rest of the campaign.”
