Silva:We’re not golden boys yet

- By HECTOR NUNNS

MARCO SILVA is trying to keep a lid on the big promotion party – but the Craven Cottage faithful will get a long-awaited chance to hail their heroes today.

Fulham are champions-elect and nearcertainties for an automatic promotion to the Premier League they have not enjoyed since 2001 under Jean Tigana.

The Championship season has become a procession at the top for Silva’s side – who have not played at home for five weeks and a 2-0 win over Blackburn.

But Silva and Fulham have a point to prove against Coventry this afternoon after the Sky Blues handed them a rare 4-1 tonking in the reverse October fixture.

Silva (below), desperate to claim the job is not yet done, said: “I don’t want to talk about if, if, if. I prefer to keep working hard and winning matches. And when the moment comes, and I hope it will come, we will do our best to achieve it and I can talk about the situation.

“We know the last two times Fulham got promoted was in the play-offs. But I can’t talk about what Tigana did in 2001, because we haven’t achieved it.”
