MICHAEL FLYNN told his Walsall squad they are playing for their footballing futures. Conor Grant scored the only goal of the game for Rochdale, and Flynn said: “One player came into the dressing room after the game and said ‘Do you know what lads? Not enough of you care’. I didn’t have to say too much to them after that.

“I wouldn’t want to be released now, so it’s a risky game they are playing.”

Rochdale boss Robbie Stockdale said: “I thought the better team won.”
