Celtic’s grip gets tighter

- Scottish Round-up

CELTIC tightened their grip on the title with a 7-0 win over ST JOHNSTONE at Parkhead.

Goals from Reo Hatate (above), Giorgos Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda gave the Hoops an unassailable interval lead.

Josip Juranovic added a fourth from the spot early in the second half and Matt O’Riley scored twice in three minutes before fellow substitute Liel Abada bagged the seventh.

Andy Halliday scored a double as HEARTS secured third place and consigned city rivals HIBERNIAN to the bottom six with a 3-1 win at Tynecastle.

An 86th-minute Joseph

Hungbo penalty saw ROSS COUNTY snatch a last-gasp place in the top six as their 1-0 victory consigned ABERDEEN to a bottom-six finish for the first time in nine seasons.

DUNDEE UNITED and DUNDEE shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Tannadice.

Ricki Lamie scored a stoppage-time equaliser for MOTHERWELL against his former club as the visitors sealed a top-six berth at LIVINGSTON’s expense.

Odin Bailey and Alan Forrest put the Lions two up but Callum Slattery pulled one back after 72 minutes before Lamie stabbed home a loose ball from a corner at the death.

AS someone who has enjoyed several fantastic holidays in that part of the world, the offer by Acun Ilicali (right) to take 500 Hull City fans on an all expenses-paid holiday to Antalya is one of the best gimmicks from a football club owner in a long time.
