Tiny tots among latest migrants

- BY ADAM GILLHAM

A BABY, toddlers and young children were among another boat-load of migrants arriving at Dover yesterday morning.

As the UK Government vowed to crack down on those crossing the English Channel, around 20-25 migrants were brought in on a Border Force vessel.

Army personnel escorted them to the immigration processing point, Tug Haven.

The 21-mile stretch of water is becoming choppy, making it extremely difficult for dinghies to cross over the next couple of days.

The Royal Navy warship HMS Tyne was positioned around eight miles off Dover yesterday, along with smaller patrol boats, according to a marine traffic tracking service.

The Ministry of Defence intercepted 181 migrants in six boats in the English Channel on Good Friday.

It takes the number who have reached the UK’s shores this year to 5,360, in 168 boats, according to official figures.

But the Home Office has yet to confirm the number detained on Wednesday – the last day before the MoD took over control of small boat operations.

A migrant boat capsized off Libya yesterday, the UN migration agency said, with at least 35 dead or missing.
