Fears over security at No10 bash

- EXCLUSIVE BY MIKEY SMITH Whitehall Correspondent

DOWNING Street used a national security loophole to spare the blushes of a guest at Boris Johnson’s lockdownbusting birthday party.

Questions remain over the presence of Lulu Lytle, the interior designer who attended the bash while working on the refurb of the PM’s Downing Street flat in June 2020.

Ms Lytle has said she attended the event only briefly while waiting to speak to Mr

Johnson about the makeover – and wasn’t invited.

But it has led to concerns that she was able to just

“wander in” to a high-security area.

No10 has refused to say whether Ms Lytle had enough security clearance and claimed confirming or denying whether she was vetted would be a threat to national security.

Shadow Cabinet Office minister

Rachel Hopkins said: “Anyone who accesses No10 should be subject to the same security rules, whether a friend of the PM or not.”

The PM, wife Carrie and Rishi Sunak were all handed fines this week after attending the brief birthday bash.
