TOWIE star Amy Childs stands with little Jorja Emerson and her dad Robin as she campaigns for the six-year-old to get a cannabis-based medicine on the NHS.

Amy, 31, plans to meet Boris Johnson as part of a fight to make medical cannabis more widely available.

She was inspired after meeting Jorja, who without the drug suffers from crippling bouts of epilepsy.

Medical cannabis was legalised in 2018 but its use is tightly controlled by the NHS due to a lack of clinical evidence – so many patients have to arrange and pay for their own supplies.

Amy, who spoke to the Sunday Mirror outside Parliament of her hopes for a meeting with the Prime Minister next month, said: “I will sit down with him with Jorja and tell him about this little girl. I’d tell him how much Robin has paid out on Jorja’s prescriptions before a private company had to sponsor her medication.

“There is an easy solution to this, it is within the Government’s control.”

Mum-of-two Amy said around 10,000 people pay for private prescriptions of medical cannabis in the UK.

Jorja, from Belfast, has a chromosome disease that triggered multiple daily seizures, now controlled by the drug. ■■See change.org/p/make-medicalcannabis-accessible-on-the-nhs
