Acer palmatum ‘Osakazuki’

-

Japanese maples are most often praised for their fiery autumnal hues but take a closer look at this time of year when they are coming into leaf and you will appreciate their multi-seasonality.

‘Osakazuki’ is one of my favourite cultivars – it doesn’t grow too large and puts on a vivid autumnal display, but it is perhaps at its most beautiful now as the fresh delicate foliage emerges and the tree is laden with scarlet flowers. Japanese maples are best grown with a bit of shelter away from bitter cold winds.
