TOON MUST DECIDE ON TAKING IT TO MAX

-

BY JOHHN RICHARDSON

CHRIS WADDLE believes it’s decision time over Allan SaintMaximin, the latest in a long line of maverick Newcastle entertainers loved by the Toon army.

“He’s a real Newcastle player and you can see why the fans like him,” said Waddle. “They’ve always liked their flair players, going back over the years to ‘Jinky’ Jimmy Smith in the 70s.

“They have been brought up on that type of player – whether it was me, Peter Beardsley,

David Ginola or Laurent Robert.”

But there is plenty of talk about whether the Frenchman will still be around on Tyneside next season.

Waddle added: “Saint-Maximin is 25 and the penny has got to drop for him. He looks the part for the Newcastle fans.

“He has got to look at himself and ask whether he is fitting into the structure of the side.

“If he doesn’t, then Newcastle will let him go. They will get good money for him.

“It’s a case of him having to listen to stay.”
