BOSS SEAN WAS FACING THE SACK BACK IN JANUARY

-

FROM BACK PAGE said his farewells at the training ground as time was called on his reign of nine years and 167 days, Pace addressed the players.

Having kept Burnley in the Premier League for six seasons on a tight budget, Dyche earned himself the moniker ‘miracle worker’ and his reputation is undamaged by the sacking.

But since Pace and American owners ALK Capitol completed a £170m takeover in December 2020, Dyche’s authority has been diluted.

Before their arrival he was part of the majority of decisions the club made, which included sitting in on board meetings, but that hasn’t been the case this season.

And ahead of today’s clash with West Ham, Clarets caretaker Mike Jackson (right) called on his club’s supporters to get behind their struggling team – despite the backlash against the sacking of Dyche. Jackson said: “I’m sure the faMn0s3s will be hurting as well, but they’ve been in these situations before in the league and I’m sure they will pull together.

“They know their football, they’re good people and I’m sure they will pull behind the club.

“I think that’s the biggest thing for us now – everyone forget about everything else, forget about the noise, forget about whatever is outside, we can’t affect that. All we can anffselcigthits what’s in here now.

“Obviously, it came as a shock to the players, that’s just human nature.

‘But they’re an experienced group, they’ve come together and I think for us now it’s about the whole club coming together.”

Jackson has been placed in caretaker charge, with academy coach Connor King and injured club skipper Ben Mee, for an unspecified length of time.
