‘Bielsa did not merit the sack’
MARCELO BIELSA did not deserve to be axed and would have kept Leeds up – despite Jesse Marsch’s claim this week players had been “over-trained” by the Argentinian.
That is according to Salim Lamrani, Bielsa’s former translator, who has written a new book claiming his old boss deserved better.
He was sacked in February and replaced by American Marsch, who has guided the Whites to a four-game unbeaten run.
But Lamrani insisted: “Despite the bad results, I think Leeds United would not have been relegated with Marcelo Bielsa. He deserved to stay until the end of the season.”
Lamrani’s book, Marcelo Bielsa: The Foundation of Success at Leeds United, includes some amazing anecdotes about the former Whites boss.
And, despite Bielsa’s Elland Road reign ending on a sour note, Lamrani added: “Marcelo left an indelible mark at Leeds United.
“He is forever part of the history of the city and I believe that the supporters are grateful to him for having brought them happiness.”
