BLUES DON’T HAVE GOOD LUK

- Interview: David Maddock

LET’S face it, we expected far more from Chelsea this season, with the squad they have and the money they spent on Romelu Lukaku.

He was supposed to be the missing piece in the jigsaw, the goalscorer who would take them to even more honours… but it is clear that it hasn’t worked out.

Lukaku (above) has been poor. And he looks like he doesn’t want to be there. It also looks like his manager doesn’t want him to be there.

I think that Chelsea overpaid on him and I think they have to cut their losses now and get rid of him this summer.

They look a far better team without him.

It was a funny one against Real Madrid.

They should have gone through after going 3-0 up. They outplayed their opponents and were totally in charge.

Maybe a bit of inexperience cost them, which is a strange thing to say about the

European champions, I know, but they are a young side and still progressing.

That probably explains their inconsistency, along with the fact that they’ve tried to fit Lukaku into a team where he clearly doesn’t gel, and that has caused problems.

I expect them to try and offload him this summer and find a better fit for next season.
