Jambos in to cup final

Hibernian 1

- Hearts

ELLIS SIMMS and Stephen Kingsley sent Hearts into the Scottish Cup final against 10-man Edinburgh rivals Hibernian.

And now not only do Hearts have a chance of cup glory next month, but it guarantees a crack at the group stage of either the Europa League or Conference League next season with Celtic and Rangers already assured of Champions League places,

Hearts boss Robbie Nielson said: “The players did well to hang in and we deserve to go through.

“Now it will be about reinvesting the money we’re guaranteed from

European football.” Hearts had the perfect start via early strikes from Simms (above) and Kingsley.

Chris Cadden hit back moments after Kingsley had put Hearts in control.

But Hearts then spent much of the remaining last-four clash fending off a dominant Hibs side.

Only a fine Craig Gordon save denied Hibs’ Ryan Porteous a leveller but there was no way back after Joe Newell’s 64th-minute dismissal after a foolish tackle.

Hibs chief Shaun

Maloney said: “We have to get to a point where we’re more clinical.”

FERNANDINHO has announced he is leaving the Premier League at the end of the season. And there is an argument to suggest he has had as important a role in Manchester City’s success as a Sergio Aguero or a David Silva or a Yaya Toure or a Vincent Kompany.

Because no one executed the tactical foul quite like Fernandinho (above).

It will be sorely missed.
