SHE was 33 when Blondie hit the big time back in 1978 – and Debbie Harry still puts younger pop stars to shame.

The singer, now 76, won a standing ovation in Glasgow before she even sang a note on Friday as Blondie kicked off their first UK tour in five years.

Fans were treated to an energetic two-hour set with hits such as Heart of Glass, Hanging on the Telephone, Picture This and Atomic.

Debbie told the crowd at the 14,000-capacity Hydro arena:

“This is a long time coming for me. It’s really an honour to be back here.”

The show had been postponed due to Covid.

Earlier this week, Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway said Debbie looked “amazing”, while co-host Richard Arnold added:

“She has ripened beautifully.”
